Diploma of Music Industry (Business)

Purpose                                   
To provide students with a wide range of knowledge and skills applicable to working at senior level within an established small business or at middle level within a medium/large, music/entertainment business corporation.

Outcome
Students successfully completing the Diploma of Music Industry (Business) will be able to:

  • Work at middle management/small business level
  • Finalise and manage live and recording deals in domestic market
  • Initiate music business activities in international markets

Depending on the electives taken:

  • Develop and manage a budget
  • Manage artists, events, technical production, tours and/or venues

Delivery                                   
Delivery of this qualification, or delivery of individual competencies units from this qualification, using the Ausmusic Training Plan, must be by a Registered Training Organisation, with a site licence number issued by the national co-ordinating body in Australia, Ausmusic Ltd.

Structure
To attain the Diploma of Music Industry (Business) achieve 14 units; all units in Group A, at least four units in Group B and eight others.  Four of the other units should be drawn from the unit bank for Diploma, or another endorsed industry training package Diploma level. 

Nominal Duration
The Diploma of Music Industry (Business) comprises 486 hrs for Group A and 85-120 hrs for Group B.  Those students who have completed the Certificate IV in Music (Business) will require less hour allocation.
