To provide students with a wide range of knowledge and skills to be able to maximise their employment as a performer or composer in the music industry.
At the completion of The Certificate III in Music, students will:
- Explain how the Australian music industry works
- Promote their works
- Build business and management skills
Depending on electives taken, students will be able to:
- Perform in a local amateur environment, in a group and/or as a soloist, using improvisation
- Compose and arrange a song
- Use MIDI technology in performance and composition
Depending on electives taken:
- Organise events and/or regional tours, market and release a CD and/or run a music venue.
- Promote and market music products and services
Delivery of this qualification, or delivery of individual competencies units from this qualification, using the Ausmusic Training Plan, must be by a Registered Training Organisation, with a site licence number issued by the national co-ordinating body in Australia, Ausmusic Ltd.
To attain the Certificate III in Music achieve 12 competency units; all units in Group A plus at least seven units from Group B plus two other units. The two other units may be drawn from Group B, from the unit Bank for Certificate III (others), from another endorsed industry training packages at Certificate III level.
Total of 112 hours of core modules and 153-270 hours of Group B, (depending on units taken), plus two other units.

Competency based learning and assessment allows for the adjustment of training and assessment dependant upon the needs of different students.

Recognition of Prior learning might apply to you for related work experience and knowledge. You are able to seek credits towards your training through Ausmusic’s RPL policy.
