Certificate II in Music Industry (Foundation)

National Code CUS20101

Purpose                                   
To provide students with broad based knowledge and skills required to be able to work in the music industry in a variety of sectors, including performance/composition, business and technology.

Outcome
At the completion of Certificate II in Music Industry (Foundation) students will be able to:

  • Gain an insight into the industry sectors and career opportunities
  • Explain how the music industry works in their local environment
  • Identify music styles, production processes and promotional opportunities
  • Write a song
  • Gain basic skills in performance, technology and/or business practice
  • Demonstrate appropriate health, safety and security procedures
  • Work with others through organising a music act and event

Delivery                                   
Delivery of this qualification, or delivery of individual competencies units from this qualification, using the Ausmusic Training Plan, must be by a Registered Training Organisation, with a site licence number issued by the national co-ordinating body in Australia, Ausmusic Ltd.

Structure
To attain the Certificate II in Music Industry (Foundation) CUS20101, achieve ten units; four core competencies plus six others. 

Nominal Duration
Total of 183 hours of core study units and 60-204 hours (depending on electives chosen). Less hours will be required if students have completed Certificate I in Music Industry (Foundation).

Competency based learning and assessment allows for the adjustment of training and assessment dependant upon the needs of different students.
